COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT VITAL TO THE LIFE OF KIRKWOOD
Our church family has committed its facilities and support to the Family Promise of Manatee County. Kirkwood is a host church and provides housing for one week for families on a rotating basis with nine other churches in the area.
On special holidays, meals are prepared and delivered to Hospice patients. Thanksgiving and Christmas are especially looked forward to by all. It takes a small army to prepare, package and deliver the goodies, and the rewards are greater than words can ever tell.
Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets are supplied through the Family Partnership Organization.
Angel Tree gifts for the children of prisoners is a Christmas project.
Manatee Religious Services is a vital part of our community mission support program. Through them we are able to discern appropriate need for families and individuals and distribute help from special funds. (see Community – Those in Need)
The Bloodmobile comes to Kirkwood on a regularly scheduled basis on Sunday mornings from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon. Please contact us for the current schedule (794-6229).
A Concert Series open to the public is presented between October and March. Past artists have included the Perlman Student Recital, Manatee Community Band, Bay Chorale, Melody Booth Orchestra as well as many others. (see Music – Concert Series)
On the fourth Sunday of each month, members of our congregation serve lunch at Our Daily Bread of Bradenton. This is a service in which we have helped for a number of years. Our Daily Bread is also an important part of our Mission giving.
Many other individual and group activities within the community are supported by time, talent and giving by our members.
