Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care Team Provides Support for the                      Needs of the Congregation

Home Communion: A ministry which provides communion on a monthly basis to our home bound and hospitalized family.

Grief Support Group: Meets some Monday afternoons at 1:00 pm in the parlor with Margot Joynes serving as group leader. Call church office for specific Mondays.

Prayer Chain: Requests for prayer are sent to George and Mary Weatherford to be started through the prayer chain. A strong belief in the power of prayer especially during times of special needs and concerns is a basic tenet of Kirkwood.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: This is a ministry of those men and women who knit and crochet who create shawls with prayer and love. The pastors distribute them to provide comfort to those who are ill, lonely, suffering grief or just in need of special care. This group is led by Dorothy VanKuiken and meets one Saturday per month. Lessons are available.

Holiday Dinners: Are held on July 4th, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day for those who are alone – singles, couples or small families. An outreach of these events is that enough food is prepared that after dinner those in the group that are able box and deliver meals to Hospice patients who would enjoy a special holiday dinner.
